This ad asks "Who would sign up to speak for a (Haitian) dictator? Rob Portman." PolitiFact rates the claim "Mostly False." When Portman worked at the firm Patton, Boggs & Blow in the 1980s, he was registered as a foreign agent Republic of Haiti as a client. However the only direct work he did while at the firm -- his first job out of law school -- was for a Hong Kong-based client, Duty Free Shoppers, Ltd., according to a 2005 affidavit from one of the firm's managing partners.
